Mice, Cigar Beetles and Fluctuating Temps!

Are you properly prepared for warmer days ahead?  In the spring, bugs hatch, mice and other pests come out of hibernation.

If you do not have a proper humidification system in place to monitor changes and control humid spikes, you could face infestation.
Mice like warm damp areas to breed.  And cigar beetles just love to hatch inside your prized collection.
Tobacco beetles have a life cycle - egg, larva, pupa and adult - that lasts about 10 to 12 weeks total. The female adult can chew its way through paper or tobacco leaf, and finds in cigars a suitably warm environment to lay its eggs, small white ovals that are too small for the human eye to detect. The eggs, up to 100 per birth cycle, hatch within six to 10 days, giving birth to the larvae. The larvae are what actually eat the tobacco to live and grow.

Guitars will expand their wood and wine storage will start to go in the opposite direction.
Call us or go on-line today to see how you can prevent this.

Wine Storage, Must Haves!

Wine Humidifier

Wine Humidifiers
for Wine Cellars,
Wine Cabinets, and Wine Coolers

Fine wines require a specific range of humidity and temperature for proper storage and aging. The Habitat Monitor ® monitors wine cellar humidity and temperature and can maintain the ideal environment for the proper aging and storage of your wines.
The Habitat Monitor is a digital wine hygrometer and thermometer, a precise thermostat and humidistat. It measures and displays climate conditions and records temperature and humidity extremes. If the temp or humidity falls outside an acceptable range (pre-programmed at the factory or easily selected by the user), an alarm will sound. With optional components, the alarm can sound in a remote location, trigger a security system or contact you directly with a dialer.
The Habitat Monitor can also automatically CONTROL your wine storage temperature and humidity. In conjunction with one of our humidifiers, it will maintain the proper humidity levels to within 1° F and 2% humidity. With the addition of one of our heaters, it will also maintain the proper temperature.

Proper Wine Humidity

The proper range of humidity for long term aging of fine wines is 50 to 70% RH. Be aware: most commercially available wine storage cabinets and wine cellar cooling units do NOT consistently maintain this range.

Cigar Humidifier
& Cigar Temperature
Control Systems

Our top of the line electronic cigar humidifier systems consist of our Habitat Monitor ® highly precise cigar humidor hygrometer connected to one of our automatic cigar humidifiers.
Our cigar humidor hygrometers and humidifiers for your small residential or large commercial humidor combine to provide continual, unattended vigilance over the climate conditions within a cigar cabinet or humidor, guarding against conditions that could be deleterious to your valuable cigars.
The Habitat Monitor ® continually measures and displays temperature and humidity, regulates your cigar humidifier and sounds an alarm if your cigar’s humidity is too low. With optional components, the alarm can sound in a remote location, or the alarm can trigger an existing security system.

Proper Cigar Humidity and Temperature

The recommended humidity level for cigars varies from 65 – 72%. The Habitat Monitor ® Cigar Humidifier Systems can be pre-programmed by us or easily re-set by you to whatever cigar humidity level you desire. The system’s cigar humidor hygrometer will continually measure and display your humidor humidity level and will automatically turn on your cigar humidor humidifier when necessary to maintain the cigar humidity level to within 2% of the set humidity level. The humidor hygrometer will also measure and display the cigar temperature and maintain it to with one degree Fahrenheit of the usual recommended (preset) temperature of about 70°, or whatever temperature you set.
Cigar humidor temperatures in excess of 70°F for extended periods of time are damaging to cigars. Elevated temperatures can result in the incubation of tobacco beetle larvae.

Guitars

Do I need a Guitar Humidifier & Hygrometer?

Proper Acoustic Guitar Care

Your acoustic guitar needs the proper humidity level for its wood to keep its shape. If you do not maintain the right humidity for your guitar, severe damage can occur. Humidity levels in most homes do not stay within the recommended guitar humidity range of 45-55% without a humidifier and/or dehumidifier. So, yes! Chances are you need a guitar humidifier and/or guitar dehumidifier. It is also critical to have a guitar hygrometer to determine your humidity levels and control your humidifier and dehumidifier to maintain proper acoustic guitar care.

All systems include a highly precise guitar hygrometer & automatic guitar humidifier. They maintain the perfect humidity level for your guitar to within 2% humidity with very little attention from you.

SIGNS YOUR GUITAR NEEDS A HUMIDIFIER

- Washboard texture on top
- Lower action due to a flattened (dropping) top
- Sharp fret ends
- Diminished top or back arch

If your acoustic guitar has a rough, corduroy-like appearance, it is drying out. Get a humidifier for your guitar as soon as possible to avoid cracking. Another issue for dry guitars is the arch flattening. This is one of several signs that you need a humidifier for your guitar.
Dried out guitars can also split along their sides or seam lines. If your guitars show any of the following signs, consider a guitar humidifier:
